The Renault Plans For The Next Years



Not long ago, Renault named their new Operational Director, Tavares Carlos and they also introduced their plans for the next few years. Their goal is to make Renault a very strong brand in Europe and in America plus have a strong presence in China in the SUV category.

On the other hand, Renault is trying to become a green company, so they are mounting solar panels on the roofs of their factories in France. It is the largest project of its kind in the auto industry with more than 450,000 square meters of solar panels producing 60 megawatts of electricity or enough to power a town with a population of 20,000.

The construction will start in June and will be completed in February of next year. Their goal is to reduce the effects of pollution and save on electrical costs. A similar project was developed by Seat that already has a roof of this kind on the Spanish factories.

The company is also doing their best to renew trust after the industrial espionage. Renault must become an attractive mark, and they need to sell many expensive cars, and to improve its image in front of the clients, where Nissan already works well. The industrial espionage scandal affected the image of the company but this is only one of the problems. The Renault officials admitted they have a pale image and the design of some of their cars is somewhat obsolete.

When Renault brought Laurens van den Acker in as a chief designer, radical changes were observed in the new concepts of Renault. The new generation of Clio is going to show us a work of two years and the general opinion is that Renault excels on the car electronics and has improved on many other features as well.

Sales of medium to luxury cars for Renault have dipped somewhat from 150,000 in 2005 to 100,000 last year. As they work to build their new line of cars, Renault must continue to profit from those cars that continue to sell well. The French media stated that Tavares needs to make an effort to even the discrepancy between the partnership with Nissan as Nissan has sold more than four million cars while Renault has sold just 2.6 million cars.

Another area that Renault is looking to resolve is their lack of any presence in the Chinese market as they look to establish themselves in 2013 to 2016. Plus, Renault does not have any presence in the United States at all. While no one is sure if Renault plans to return to the US market, they are looking to establish more of a presence in Russia and Brazil. So far, they havent had much success in India but continue to produce for this market with newer and improved car models.

In summary, the objective of the company is to grow the annual sales by more than 400 000 units but this goal can only be achieved if the company brings new design innovations with their existing and upcoming line of cars.
