Physical down time
You work hard to grow and maintain your business. But trying to be Superman or Wonder Woman at the expense of your health is not the way to make your business work. If your body was the Internet then probably you'll want to keep it offline for a bit.
Mental down time
Though you may be running your own business now, that doesn't make things any less hectic at times. Find some time to get away from it all for the sake of your sanity and to give you additional peace of mind - this is even more vital than physical rest. Get out and play. Your mind will thank you!
Spend time with loved ones
Your family and friends see you working, working, working, sometimes rarely coming up for air. Allow some time to bond with them and they will be very grateful - so will you!
Travel the world or travel nearby
You will want to do something enjoyable and see what the outside world has to offer, may it be travel-related or not, or you can simply stay at home and rest. Now how would you do this when home happens to be your main place of work? The key is to stay out of your office during your vacation time. Here are a few neat tricks to try. Police yourself by placing a "GONE FISHIN'" sign and closing the door of your office. Now it's time to channel your inner child and think of something that isn't work-related. You could take up a hobby or go solo at the nearby beach. Think of what you can do within your budget that's fun. When all else fails, here's the best thing to do - nothing!
You are a human being
Oh, come on, you might think, this is so obvious it shouldn't even be on here, but you'll be surprised to know that the word "day off" is nonexistent in the vocabulary of so many self-employed people, maybe even yours! There is too much to do, and not enough hours in the day to get it all done. Newsflash, my good friend. C'est la vie! Nobody said life would be easy, but there always must be some time for relaxation. Probably you're thinking that you can only afford one day off per week and not a week-long vacation in Nowheresville, USA, but that one day of rest per week is a whole lot better than never taking a rest at all. Just try taking a vacation even for a bit and you'll find yourself refreshed like you never felt before. Not to mention much healthier!
